10-Traditional Full-Length Tour
If you want a change of scenery and an adventure worthy of true Québec folklore, this picturesque excursion is what you are looking for.
Before setting off on this two-day excursion, you take part in the last minute preparations and are introduced to the basics of
dogsledding safety (1 hour). Then we are ready to take off.
After travelling several kilometers, we stop for lunch in a genuine coureur de bois cabin. Here you enjoy a nice hot drink and make
yourself delicious toasts on the woodstove. Will it be our local honey or maple syrup on your toasts?
Once lunch is over, we head toward our night camp through a natural forest, over frozen lakes, up hills and mountains, down snowy trails and
through maple groves and bogs. This portion of the excursion takes us over several kilometers of groomed trails and out of track.
Our experienced guides prepare traditional Québec fare for supper.
You are welcome to join our mushers in feeding the dogs in the evening.
When night falls, you get to choose between sleeping in a tepee on a camping mattress or in a log cabin on a camp bed.
A hearty breakfast early the next morning has you ready for the long dosledding day ahead. Along the way, the guide shares with you
his wildlife knowledge, describing the fauna and tree species.
Sometimes you might even put on a pair of snowshoes to follow fur mammal tracks, explore a beaver habitat or the ravages caused by deer.
What's more, if you are interested, you can learn a few trapping techniques and the basics of forest survival. Around midday, we share
a meal in the forest.
During this picturesque excursion you find out what the true lives of mushers and their sled dogs are like. Upon your return at the
end of the day, it is our pleasure to answer any questions you might have about the mushers' activities and you are welcome to take
part in the feeding of the dogs.
